The Brooklyn Nets will be playing a Los Angeles team for the second night in a row when they face off against the Lakers on Sunday night. Here are our Nets-Lakers picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Lakers (2-10) still haven’t been able to build any momentum this season and are riding a five-game losing streak heading into Sunday night. Forward LeBron James has been

upgraded to doubtful for this game, and if he’s unable to suit up, their losing woes may continue. To make matters worse, forward Anthony Davis has also been listed as day-to-day with a back injury.

The Brooklyn Nets (6-7) have also gotten off to a disappointing start and will be missing star point guard Kyrie Irving as he continues to serve his suspension.

They have been riding the hot hand of Kevin Durant as of late and have won four of their last 5 games, including their last two games after beating the Clippers last night.

If the Lakers are missing James again, they will have to really slow down Durant and figure out a way to score the basketball efficiently in order to win. I’m not sure I like the odds of either of those

things happening, let alone both. If Davis is also out, their roster starts to look more like a G League team than an NBA team and it becomes even harder to see how they will cover the spread. The Lakers are an NBA worst 2-10 against the spread so far this season.

For the Nets, everything is going through Durant, who seems to be managing the workload fine, averaging over 30 points per game on 52.5% shooting from the field. After a slow start to the

season, Brooklyn looks like it’s turning it around, winning four of the team’s last five games, including the last two. If things continue the way they’ve been going, look for the Nets to cover the spread.

The Nets are 4-9 against the Over so far this season while the Lakers are 6-6. Both teams are missing key offensive pieces in Irving and James.

The Nets like to play slow, ranking 26th in pace of play so far this season, and will probably look to slow the game down knowing they have the better half-court offence.

The Nets have also clamped down defensively as of late, giving up less than 100 points in five straight games. I like the value of the Under in this one.
