Houston looks to recover from back-to-back road losses in Dallas and Denver, looking to win for the first time away from home this season in their 8th attempt. The Rockets
almost beat the Lakers in the last game at Crypto.com Arena, losing by a single point some 10 days ago. The oddsmakers see them as 5.5 point underdogs here, which makes backing them to cover quite tempting
considering their record is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings with the Lakers. Backing the Rockets against the spread has yielded solid profits this season; they have been able to
cover in 10 of their last 13 games. There are also encouraging signs on the injury front, with Fred VanVleet and Jae’Sean Tate being upgraded to probable.
Los Angeles comes back home following a 4-game road trip in which it went 2-2. The Lakers have been up and down quite a lot lately, exchanging wins and losses in their last 6
outings. Finding consistency will be their main priority in the month of December. The play of Anthony Davis will determine the outcome of tonight’s game; he has to show up offensively
but also has to keep Alperen Sengun under control after Sengun had a 20-point double-double against him in the last meeting. The
Lakers could get a couple of role players back from injury as Jaxson Hayes and Cam Reddish have been upgraded to a game-time decision. LA is on a 7-game home winning streak against the Rockets.
With the Lakers being involved in quite a lot of close games at home this season, I am leaning towards backing the road team on the spread.
Following 7 straight road losses to start the season, it’s only a matter of time when the Rockets beat someone away from home. I’m not ruling out that happening tonight, but let’s go with Houston to cover as the slightly safer option.
